My 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis and 1989 Lincoln Town Car both keep going with regular maintenance. No new car could make me any happier than perfectly running, paid for antiques. As long as there are parts available, I'll keep driving these antiques.

We have a total of four vehicles, all old and paid for. Wouldn't have it any other way. Even though, we can now afford a new car, would never do it. My 1988 Grand Marquis (197k miles) is driven every day. Whatever needs to be repaired, gets repaired. A whole lot cheaper than payments.

We downsized. Got rid of the house. We have no car payments, no house payments, no debt of any kind. We went from a nice house with an inground pool to a doublewide with an above ground pool. Couldn't be happier and more free.

I'm better off financially now than in 2008. But, only because I got rid of everything and live way below my means. I'm not helping the economy by buying anything, either.

Exactly. Then they get all upset because you didn't move over. The merger has to yield to traffic already on the roadway. Accelerate, or slow down to fit it!
